Website design and development for author Bethany Wiggins.

Jan. 2018

Bethany wanted a look that represented her latest series without giving away too much about the plot.

This woman warrior in a snowy forest did the trick. But we wanted to include one more hint about the story, and so, in certain circumstances, the warrior woman will change. Visit her site and hover your mouse over the image, or if you’re on a phone, tap the picture. You can also scroll down just a bit, until her face is almost off the page, to see the transformation. It’s subtle.

"If you’re looking to to go beyond the typical website, Double Quill offers something magical. Plus, they’re fast, easy to work with, know the writer’s market, and are incredibly nice. For a website that stuns, look no farther."
-Bethany Wiggins

Website design and development for author Mary Lindsey.

Sept. 2017

Mary wanted a new look for her website that matched the cover of her new book, without being a direct copy of the cover.

After several discussions with Mary about her latest book and the vision she had for her site, we had a plan.

It started with a video showing a pack of running wolves in a lightning storm. The video was shortened to reduce download times, and edited just right so that, even though it only runs a few seconds, you have to look very close to see that it is looping and not a continuous running video.

Then the vines and book title (the most prominent parts of her cover) were superimposed over the video making the look complete.

Since some phones won't play videos automatically, and videos can be too large to download over cellular connections, the video is replaced by a much smaller animated gif when viewed on a phone.

"I could not be happier with my website design from Double Quill. Patrick listened to what I needed and wanted in a website and delivered--from form to function to value. I'm thrilled with the outcome and the process was simple and worry-free. Highly recommend."
-Mary Lindsey

Demonstration Author Site

Aug. 2017

A creepy graveyard at night. Hover your mouse over a menu item and a spectral image fades into view. If you're on a tablet or phone, make the ghost appear by scrolling down the page until the graveyard is almost out of view.

This site wasn't done for a real author. It's a demonstration of certain techniques and layouts.

But if it happens to hit the mark for any authors out there, it can be purchased and modified to suit.
